Literary and reader-oriented hermeneutics in the blogosphere

September 14, 2009

The more biblioblogs I read, the more surprised I am at how often topics like narrative and reader-response criticisms, and other reader-oriented hermeneutics are virtually ignored in the blogosphere (except for the occasional derisive comment). Lots of bloggers are concerned about the interpretation of Paul (and rightly so), while many others discuss Jesus and the gospels (but generally from a much more historical-critical perspective). I am not sure why this is the case but I would really love to see those interested in the interpretation of the Gospels (especially those concerned with the proclamation of those texts within the church) express some interest in these exciting and illuminating approaches to the NT narratives.
