“If you label me, you negate me. . . .”
These words of Soren Kierkegaard come to mind as I learn of the proposal to begin reclassifying biblioblogs as conservative, moderate, liberal, etc. You can look here, here, here, and here to read more about this and to see some initial reactions. I am in substantial agreement with the sentiment of these early reactions and I think this is an ill-conceived idea that significantly decreases the potential effectiveness of every biblioblogger. First, not every blogger breaks down neatly along such lines. Second, one man’s conservative is another man’s moderate. One man’s moderate is another man’s liberal. Such labels often do more harm than good and often bring with them a host of potentially negative assumptions.
